Three-month-old boy dies after falling out of shopping cart as mother walked back to car
Tragedy: Valli Berg was walking out of the store with a friend when her son tumbled from the cart
A three-month-old boy has died after he fell from a shopping cart as it was pushed over a speed bump.
James Anderson Berg died after the car seat he was sat in toppled from the top of the cart in a Kroger parking lot in Macon, Atlanta.
Police said a Kroger employee who was friends with the child”s mother was pushing the cart when the infant fell on the way back to the car.
The child”s mother, Valli Berg, and the employee were walking out of the store just before 11am on Tuesday when the accident happened.
The boy was taken to hospital in Macon but was pronounced dead at 4:03pm.
Police said the baby was secured to a car seat that had been removed from its vehicle base and placed in the area of the cart near the handlebar where an older child would usually sit.

There was nowhere to latch the car seat to the shopping trolley.
Bibb County coroner Leon Jones said that it was a “terrible accident”.
Police said that no charges have been filed.
A Kroger spokesman said: “Our deepest sympathy and most sincere, heartfelt thoughts go to the family during this time, and Kroger is fully cooperating with the local investigation.”
The child”s mother, who was a University of Georgia graduate, works as a realtor. Her husband is the vice president of an investment management company.
A funeral is being held today at 11am.
