The prom is the biggest night of the senior high school year.
It’s a time to pluck up the courage to ask out a date, dust down your best suit or buy a new dress, and show the world that you’ve morphed from kid to adult.
Except the transition isn’t always that smooth.
Scroll down and let the memories come flooding back…
Costume crisis: When else in your life can you wear ill-fitting outfits of head-to-toe zebra stripes and layers of stiff, hot pink and turquoise ruffles
Black satin: This is the photo that good taste forgot
Growth spurt: If you find that your date is too tall, just grab a chair [right] and hope that the photographer remembers to crop it out
Personal space: On rare occasions, a student may wish that a teacher would come and tell her date to stand a suitable distance apart
Prop flop: When in doubt, look for a huge snowmobile to add some interest to your treasured prom photo
Do the conga: Nothing like your family wanting to be in the picture to cause your relaxed date to turn into a grimacing statue
