Oscar winner Crowe is not immune to weight fluctuations, but he has embarked on a bid to get into shape for his latest role, playing Superman’s father.

Start by standing with your feet a bit wider than hip-width apart, toes slightly turned out.
Pull your shoulder blades together to open up your chest. Bend your knees slowly, pushing your bottom and hips out as if you are sitting down.

Keep your head and shoulders in line and your knees over your ankles.
Drop down until your thighs are parallel to the floor, raising your arms in front of you.
Lift your torso up and return to the start position by pushing up with your thighs. Repeat 16 to 18 times.
