A baby who was born four months premature has amazed doctors by surviving against the odds.
Faith Rebecca Langston was born on March 25 at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shropshire.
Her parents, Vikki and John Paul Langston, said they experienced everything from elation to despair after their daughter was born following a breach birth.
Faith weighed just 1lb 10oz at birth. She now weighs 2lbs and 7oz
'When she came out we didn't even see her, they took her straight to a machine in the corner,' Mr Langston said.
'We didn't know if it was a boy or a girl at this point, but then one of the doctors turned around and said “She's a little fighter”.
'That's when we knew she was a girl. You have the elation of finding out you have a daughter, but it was drowned out by all the doctors and nurses trying to save her. A rollercoaster of emotions.'
Since that day Mrs Langston has been travelling everyday to see Faith in the Neonatal ward where she continues to improve and grow in an incubator.
Mr Langston, who is a supermarket deputy manager can only get across once a week as he has to work as much overtime as possible to keep the family afloat.
'It's a day by day situation,' said Mr Langston.
'We were told that the first couple of days would be a honeymoon period and that everything would go well, and it did. The first two days were brilliant.'
Precious: Faith is cuddle by her mother Vikki with her sister Amber. She won't be able to go home until July
Hand in hand: Faith's parents say they are taking things day by day
On the third day the doctors needed to inflate one of Faiths lungs to match the other, and after that point her body temperature started to drop.
'We found it very hard and Vikki just broke down,' said Mr Langston.
'It's hard when the stuff you're told is going to happen actually happens. You feel different to how you think you're going to feel.'
Faith has had four blood transfusions, anti-biotics, anti-funguls, ibuprofen to try and close a valve in her heart and also has a heart murmur. Faith has gradually grown and improved over the last few weeks and now weighs 2lbs and 7oz.
But with the average baby weighing 7lbs 8oz there is still a long way to go.
Vikki and John Paul with their little miracle. They have a Facebook page called Faith for Faith
Doctors have told Vikki and John Paul that Faith's due date in July will be the very earliest that they will be able to take her home to live with her parents and sister, six-year-old Amber.
The family have had an overwhelming amount of support from their local areas and beyond, with cards, well wishes and bundles of premature babywear being donated and made by sometimes complete strangers.
This is largely down to their Facebook page 'Faith for Faith' which provides daily updates and pictures on Faith's condition, says daily prayer for Faith and allows people to post their wishes.
